Plate Passion

I have a passion !

for a pretty plate, it doesn’t even have to be in perfect condition.  If I love it, I love it !

Over the years I have collected many, some are now chipped, some cracked and a few broken.  I am not precious about them, this is the beauty of paying (mostly) pennies for my lovelies.

I use them everyday, the family are used to my mismatched bits and pieces.  I think it adds to their beauty.  I will say though that I don’t put food on the cracked and chipped ones for obvious reasons but I cannot bear to part with them.

A Selection of my lovely plates

My most expensive single purchase £4.50 for this totally too die for Johnson Bros Pareek Bone china plate

Really pretty Noritake Plate

I love the fact that the guilding is worn on this gorgous softest of soft pink plate (make unknown)

Absolutely gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous plates! I collect Emma Bridgewater and coloured glass. Love mis-matched table settings! If you come to mine for dinner no two plates/bowls/glasses will be the same 🙂 x

They are lovely Karen, I really haven't seen such a pretty collection anywhere. I went charity shop searching the other day, we have 3 in our little town(sign of the times I guess) but everything was hideously over priced, I picked up a set of old plates & cups, that quite plain. They wanted 16.99 for them!! Craziness ! It's a shame. It just spoils it when the shops get greedy , I know it's for charity, but you still don't want to be ripped off. O would SO love to go shopping with you tho : ) xxxx

Thanks Modern Mummy for your lovely comment. I love different coloured glassware too. Same here for the dinnerware, not that we have that many peeeps over for dinner these days. xx

Aww Ta Helen, I have collected them over several years from charity, boot sales and ebay but I know what you mean about charity shops. Its such a shame that they latch onto a trend and then get greedy. I am lucky I guess, but there are several shops that have silly prices on their items, I always haggle and if they won't budge, I just leave : ) xxx

LOL! Only if I think the price is unrealistic and it has been sat there for some time. It also works the other way though, like today I got 6 coloured wine glasses that were in a box marked glasses £1 ! and the lady charged me just £1 for all 6 ! I told her surely they are £1 each and she said no, if they were it would have been marked £1 each ! OK ! Thanks, keep the change !

I'd love your comment
