Fore Street Flea Exeter

I’m a bargain hunter.  It’s a fact. I love to mooch about and find beautiful items for my home and family at bargain prices.  One of the best places to do this is the Fore Street Flea held (surprise, surprise) on Fore Street, Exeter, several times a year.  Today was a perfect day for a wander, although the store holders might not have agreed.  It was very hot.  I got there early, but not early enough as it turned out.  By 11.30 the street was already buzzing with buyers.  My first bargain was this gorgeous Mason’s ironstone Ginger Jar that I snapped up for £4 to add to my ever-growing collection.

It’s not particularly rare, you can find them online for around £15 but I love it.  It was in immaculate condition and fits in perfectly with the blue and white collection in my bedroom.

Next up I spotted this beautiful, hand inked real egg.  Blue and white, perfect for my collection and a steal at just £2.  The stall holder told me she thought it was a shaker egg.  I loved it and carefully carried around with me all day.  Until….

disaster !

I dropped it when taking it out of my bag when I got home !

I am totally gutted, although in good Japanese Kintsugi tradition, which finds beauty in repairing all broken pottery. My hubby is determined to put it back together for me.  Whether or not he succeeds, I will love and enjoy what is left of this beautiful , delicate piece of art.

Ok, so when I saw this scarf I was having it.  Quality from a mile away.  Clearly 100% linen with a hand stitched yellow edging.  It turned out to be the ethical brand one hundred stars.  Beautifully screen printed in vibrant colours and mine for just £5! Swoon.

A perfect match to my new linen tunic from Zara.

I’m always on the lookout for new books to add to my collection.  I have this dream that one day, when I don’t have to work anymore (ha) and my boys have grown and left home (double ha) I will have the time to sit down and leisurely flick through all the beautiful books I have amassed.  This one is a beaut.  Just £2.50 and in immaculate condition.  I found it in the charity shop as I was on my way out of the Flea.

Time to wander up the high street and see what the tail end of the summer sales had to offer.  I have suddenly decided that I need to become more glam so when I saw these earrings I snapped them up,  Perfect for a night out .

Final bargain of the day.  A perfect cream linen skirt from Marks and Spencer for just £14.  I am so sad that M & S seem to have lost their way these days.  But there are still the occasional must have pieces if you dig deep enough.

So a great mornings mooching was had, and total spend…

Just £30.50!

Winning.
