Plymouth Sofology Store

I was very fortunate to recently be invited to visit the new Plymouth Sofology Store on its opening day.  Living in Exeter, Plymouth is not somewhere I think to visit.  I suppose I thought it was too much of a hike to get there.  I was wrong.  It was a really quick trip down the A38 with the new Sofology store  located right on the exit junction on the new Gateway Retail Park.

Who doesn’t like to be greeted at the door with fizz and chocolate! There was an introduction to members of the store team, including my very own sofologist called Sean.  Sofology has very cleverly realised that people don’t like to be pounced on by commission hungry salespeople as soon as they walk into a store, so they created sofologists who don’t work on commission and are highly trained to give the customer factual, honest information about the furniture.  The sofologists are rewarded purely on the level of service they give.  Hurrah for the return of good, old-fashioned customer service!   If you want them to, they will accompany you as you look around the store and are armed with ipads to help document any choices you may be considering.  Great customer service and technology, win/win!

Sean quickly helped me to sign up to the Sofology app on my phone. The app updated with all the information Sean downloaded onto his ipad as we walked around the store.  The app allows me to check back over any of my favourite sofa styles, seating combinations and colours from the comfort of my own home.   By making a note of any of the designs I was interested in the ipad I didn’t feel I had to try to remember everything.  It was genius!  There are also digital displays in most of the room sets where you can see all the options available.

If you are a regular to my blog, you will know I am not really a colour person. BUT, Oh, be still my beating heart! When I saw this room set and THIS sofa, Swoon!  One of the many things that sets Sofology aside from other furniture brands are their gorgeous room sets.  They really help to visualise how a sofa could look in your home.  There were so many colour combinations and styles. Something to really suit every taste.

Loved this one too.  Sofology really do their homework on all the latest colour trends and home accessories.

I was very fortunate to be gifted the choice of a sofa and armchair from the extensive range available either from the website or in the Plymouth store.  There are over 200 ranges available online and 70 new styles launched this year alone, with 80 available in the store to choose from, it wasn’t going to be an easy choice.  I have long been a lover of white loose cover sofas as they enable me to wash them.  With four men in my home who have a habit of ‘making a mess’, it was an obvious choice.  But in the last year or so, the men seem to have become a lot more respectful of the furniture!  So, I though, why not go for it.  Get a really grown up sofa for the living room.  Don’t worry, I’m still keeping the large loose cover sofa in the dining room!  Can you guess which one I went for?

Cleverly designed additional storage is a must in most homes.  I loved this one.  I also love that Sofology provides the best quality cushions in a choice or colours and designs to really accentuate the furniture.  The cushions are not an after though. How often have you bought a great sofa and then were unable to find the perfect cushions to complete the look? or if you found some cushions they cost an arm and a leg, adding to the overall cost!

Better decisions come with time…

Regret is a thing of the past at Sofology. Our stores are perfect for spending time choosing and trying things out. They have private spaces where you can sit and relax and get a feel for your new sofa without the rush to buy. Your sofologist will help when necessary and leave you to chill when you need it. I have to say, I was a little in love with many of the accessories.  Good job most were available to buy.

So much choice!  From huge family sized sofas to sofa beds for smaller spaces or for when unexpected guests drop by, or more traditional recliner styles available in fabric and Italian leather.  Many of the sofas are also made here in the UK too which is a bonus.  All are handmade by craftsmen using the best materials available and hand finished details like studding, stitching and solid wood turned feet.

    I also love the green velvet with the ottoman. In an otherwise white room it would look amazing.

      I did think blue Amanda because of the accents in the room, but there wasn’t quite the right colour blue. Love the gold idea, wish I could be more blingy! xx

    This is a great post Karen. I don’t think to visit Plymouth much either, I will certainly be popping down to check out the new Sofology store as I am desperate for a new sofa and love the idea of sales people who don’t pressurise! Jan xxx
