(AD) You may remember at the end of last year I was invited to visit the opening of the new Sofology store in Plymouth. Whilst there I was given the opportunity to select some furniture for my own home, as you can imagine I was over the moon at the prospect! I have pretty much always had white sofas with removable covers I could wash when grubby little fingers or careless adults left their mark. But, as number one son has now left home and the twins pretty much live in their bedrooms, I thought it would be a great opportunity to choose something that was a little more grown up for the living room. The choice was enormous with 200 ranges available online and 80 of them to see in store. After several circuits of the store and browsing of the Sofology website when I returned home, I decided to leave my comfort zone completely and go for the Demure Graceland three seat sofa and two seat cuddle chair in biscuit.
I like to think my home is a mix of relaxed coastal and rustic inspired decor, so it was important that I chose furniture that was a stylish and modern fit for my decor but also comfortable to sit and spend time on. The living room has become more of a grown up space in recent years, with the family focus moving to our large open plan kitchen dining room. As a family though, we still like to occasionally watch tv together and so I wanted to make sure there was enough seating for all of us in the living room that was also comfortable and not something I would be too precious about. The Demure range is handmade from durable woven mix fabric with relaxation and cosy comfort in mind. I decided on the biscuit colour as apart from the fact there were no white sofas available in a style I loved, (ha, only kidding) I wanted to bring more colour into the room but also keep with the sea inspired decor. The biscuit colour reminded me of sand and I thought it would be a perfect contrast for the rest of the decor in the room. I will say when it arrived it was slightly darker than I had expected and so would always strongly recommend you request a sample when choosing online.
When I placed the order online through the Sofology website, the furniture had a 7 week delivery window, as the furniture is handmade I thought this was pretty good and looked forward to receiving the sofa and chair in time for Christmas. As it turned out there was a bit of an admin mix up and the furniture was delivered in January. I am actually grateful for the delay as it gave me time to completely rethink the layout of kitchen/dining room where my white sofas are currently living. Had the furniture arrived from Sofology in the week before Christmas, well the added stress would have not been good for my heart! The delivery was very efficient, with a phone call from the driver half an hour before they arrived on the designated day. Two lovely guys who were extremely polite bought the furniture into the living room, unwrapped it, put the feet on and took away all the packaging. They were very quick and professional and could not have been more helpful.
The website is really easy to navigate with plenty of information to help you make your choice. If you prefer, you can call to place your order with the knowledgeable and experienced customer service agents. Along with the experience I received from the staff in the showroom in Plymouth, I do think Sofology have got customer service totally sorted.
Jarvis and I absolutely love the cuddle chair, it is the perfect size for two people to, well, cuddle up together. We have spent quite a few nights under a blanket snuggled on this chair in the last few weeks. The arm and back height are perfect to rest your head and arms on and even drape your legs over.
Seat cushions filled with foam, topped with super soft Dacron fibre, offer the perfect balance of resilience and comfort, for a relaxing sit you’ll never want to leave. The seats are supported by solid steel serpentine springs that distribute weight evenly across the cushions, so you don’t feel like you’re slipping into the corners of the sofa
I love the tucked button finish on the back cushions.
ok, so you get a close up shot of my “distressed” wood floor here, but actually, its deliberately left that way as I love the rustic nature of worn floors. I think the gorgeous chrome mirrored feet of the furniture show that the design will hold its own with any decor choice.
I’d love to know what you think of my choice. Do you think it works with my decor? I for one am over the moon with the furniture. It is a big move away from my usual colour and style but the quality and comfort of the furniture I am sure will stand the test of time. They have a 20 year structural guarantee on them and have already been tested with the Sofology fabric care kit! We might have had a small spillage on the arm of the sofa which gave me the opportunity to break out the fabric care kit comprising of 6 specialist products, covering: fresh stain remover, grease and oil stain remover, old and resistant stain remover, fabric rinse/odour remover and pet stain remover. Although I was horrified at the time, I quickly followed the instructions for the fresh stain removal and within minutes it was as good as new. Next time (because I can guarantee there will be a next time) I’ll try to remember to film it so I can show you how efficient the kit is. Definitely makes me more relaxed and less precious about any accidents.
I was gifted the Graceland Demure Sofa and cuddle chair in return for my honest review of the ordering, delivery and opinion of the products. All words and views are my own.
